The Red Hen Refuses to Bake Republican Wedding Cakes

LEXINGTON, Va. — After a week of controversy surrounding their decision to kick out White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the Red Hen restaurant has now determined that it will refuse to bake any and all future wedding cakes intended for Republicans.

“We didn’t start baking cakes until recently,” owner Stephanie Wilkinson announced on Friday, adding that the restaurant made the decision to start offering cakes for the sole purpose of turning down Republican couples. “We generally don’t like confrontation, but we stand by our values. This policy also applies to Republican birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, bar and bat mitzvahs, parties, or any other social event that requires cake.”

Minutes after the announcement, Red Hen’s Yelp page was bombarded with one-star reviews and attacks from members of the right. One of them, credited to a “Donnie T.” in Washington, D.C., reads “Pathetic Red Hen’s cakes are so tremendously disgusting and low-energy that only LOSERS and HATERS would ever want to eat there! SAD!”
