Stoney: Stop Asking Me to Name a School After Jason Mraz

RICHMOND, Va. — Mayor Levar Stoney issued a statement earlier today saying he will no longer entertain the idea of naming a school after famous Richmonder Jason Mraz.

RELATED (article continued below):

“First of all, he went to Lee-Davis,” Mayor Stoney explained. “That’s in Hanover County. Let them take a whack at it. Not to mention, if I’m going to name a school after anyone, it’s probably going to be Elliott Yamin.”

“I know he wasn’t a Confederate loser, but please let this one go,” he added.

Stoney went on to say that one of the main reasons for not naming a school after Mraz is simply the confusion surrounding the last name itself.

“Is it pronounced ‘muh-RAZZ’ or ‘MUH-razz,’ or could it even be ‘EM-razz?’ If we ever did name a school after him, we’d have to devote the entire first day to just that one subject.”

This story is still developing.
