In an official statement, Biden, who is very popular among TCM’s primarily older, liberal leaning audience, explained how excited he was to learn that he will be the star of the day on the classic film channel.
“Jill and I just love watching TCM on Sunday afternoons,” Biden said. “Just the other night we were watching, oh what was it, it’s on the tip of my tongue, Robert Preston is in it. Hmmmm. ‘The Music Man,’ that’s it! Great stuff. TCM has some great stuff on it. Jill and I watch TCM all the time.”
In addition to the inauguration broadcast, Biden will get a special introduction from TCM host Ben Mankiewicz. Noir Alley host Eddie Muller has even created a special cocktail called the Sleepy Martini to commemorate the occasion.
Following the inauguration, TCM plans to broadcast films with the name Joe in them for the rest of the day, including “A Guy Named Joe” and “Pal Joey.” Though Biden has a busy first day planned, he stated that he hopes to find time to watch “The Story of G.I. Joe” at some point in the evening.
