The River City Real Estate Review
By David C. Wingfield
Welcome to the River City Real Estate review! Here’s where we fill you in on the latest happenings in the world of RVA real estate.
News & Happenings
Bob McCafferty of Fusion Real Estate has issued an immediate recall to everyone who received his free refrigerator magnet of kitchen measurements. There are in fact three teaspoons in a tablespoon, and not four, as the magnet indicated. The marketing company who sells the magnets has been notified, and McCafferty recommends not using the measurements to make anything until new magnets have been reissued.
After 53 years of selling real estate, Marcia Drinkwater of Drinkwater Realty has decided to retire. When asked what her plans are for retirement, she said, “I’ve put my whole life savings into a ten-month cruise around the world. We leave next week. It’s always been my dream to travel the world, and I can’t wait to leave. Why, is there anything stopping me from traveling at this point?”
River City Geography
Sure we all know the main areas of Richmond, but what about those locations that are a bit lesser known? Do they have names? Well, thanks to the River City Real Estate Review, they do now! Feel free to use these terms at will.
Hilothian: Area just North of Midlothian.
Scott’s Additional Addition: Any area outside of Scott’s Addition that isn’t the Fan, Carytown, or Willow Lawn.
Fan Remote: South of Cary Street, except where Oregon Hill is concerned.
MechanicAsh: The Bass Pro Shop off of I-95, and only the Bass Pro Shop.
Restaurant Row: There isn’t really one, but with so many restaurants in this city, it’s a great idea. So while not truly a “location”, it’s more like a state of mind.
