Petition To Replace Washington Commanders Roster With 1991 Washington Redskins Roster Reaches 100K Signatures

WASHINGTON — Stressing that the switch could help improve the team’s brand value with a potential Super Bowl win, an online petition to replace the current Washington Commander team with the franchise’s 1991 lineup has reached 100,000 signatures, sources confirmed Monday.

“The fans have spoken, and their message is clear: the current brand needs a revamp,” the petition reads, noting that the famous 1991 roster that won that season’s Super Bowl could easily outperform this year’s team and revamp the struggling image the Washington Commanders have faced in recent times.

“We’re calling for franchise owner Josh Harris to do the right thing and bring back the tour-de-force of Gibbs, Rypien, Ervins, and the rest of the 1991 squad for the 2023 season. We believe this is the right move that could lead the franchise to another Super Bowl, or at the very least another NFC victory. Even though Gary Clark is north of 60, we’re fully confident he could land enough touchdowns to get us into the playoffs and give the team’s image the respect it deserves and get us into the playoffs.”

The petition noted that if the surviving 1991 members would not comply, they would be willing to settle on the 1988 starting lineup.
